Citizenship
A citizen of the Republic of Lithuania may not at the
same time be a citizen of another state, except for:
-
persons who held citizenship of the Republic of
Lithuania prior to 15 June 1940 who were exiled or withdrew from the
Republic of Lithuania in the period of occupations from 15 June 1940 to
11 March 1990;
-
persons who held citizenship of the Republic of
Lithuania prior to 15 June 1940, who were the deportees, political
prisoners, as well as their children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren;
-
persons who held citizenship of the Republic of
Lithuania before 15 June 1940 and left to reside in other states during
the occupations of 15 June 1940 11 March 1990, the children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren of these persons;
-
a child (under 18), one of whose parents is citizen
of the Republic of Lithuania;
-
citizens of foreign states who have refugee status
in the Republic of Lithuania;
-
persons who were awarded citizenship by the decree
of the President of the Republic of Lithuania;
-
persons who acquired citizenship of another state
with which the Republic of Lithuania has concluded a contract on dual
citizenship.
